Course Description

This course builds spatial awareness for supply chain decision-making using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and location data. Participants learn core GIS concepts and create basic maps to analyze demand, facilities and service coverage, then translate the results into practical insights they can apply immediately in operations and planning. 

Course Outline

Target Audience: 

Supply chain, logistics, operations, distribution professionals, analysts/coordinators, program/project managers, the public sector, healthcare and community-serving staff 
No prior GIS experience needed.

 

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain supply chain fundamentals and why location matters 
  • Apply core GIS basics (layers, attributes, geocoding) 
  • Create and interpret basic supply chain maps and simple coverage analyses 
  • Communicate actionable insights by producing a concise map-based brief
