Course Description

This course provides both new and experienced internal auditors with an understanding of the fundamental concepts, principles and requirements of auditing to ISO 9001:2015 using a process-based approach. Through the use of interactive methods, participants will acquire the necessary skills to become a leader in preparing and conducting first- and second-party audits. Participants engage in activities that create an understanding of each standard element and the benefits of each element for their organization and for them as participants in a business management system. The course includes preparation and application of an audit under the guidance of a Plexus Trainer. Auditors will learn the full range of internal auditing skills that will help them become strong advocates and leaders in their organizations' efforts to obtain maximum value from their commitment to ISO 9001.

Learner Outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the ISO 9001:2015 Standard and the Process Approach
  • Understand basic system terminology and have the ability to identify the requirements
  • Learn and practice effective communication skills and techniques, including effective questioning and conflict management. 
  • Perform audits based on the ISO 19011 Standard
    • How to form an audit team and conduct an audit meeting (opening/closing)
    • Determine needed documentation
    • Classify, record and resolve nonconformities (nonconformances)
  • Determine needed documentation and organize according to the standard
  • IImplement preventative measures to avoid future nonconformities
