Course Description
Tri-C’s Dispatch Communications Course is designed for individuals either currently employed or seeking employment as a dispatcher or an employee in the public safety field. Completion of this course will improve your skillset and enhance your resume! Our professional instructors network with area agencies looking to hire and students will be included in a database alerting them of job opportunities. Dispatchers are in demand! Register today.
SPRING 2026 COURSE DATES:
Saturday, March 21st, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Mandatory Orientation
Saturday, March 28th - Sunday, June 28th, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
(Weekends only, no classes Easter or Memorial Day weekend.) Held at the Public Safety Training Center/Western Campus
Classroom and hands-on training includes:
- Handling multiple simulated calls with scenarios in law/fire/EMS
- Keyboarding, listening, & responding to actual 911/non-emergency calls
- Skill-building exercises using computer-aided dispatch (CAD)
- Introductory course to emergency medical dispatch (EMD)
- Skills assessment exam in preparation for Dispatcher Civil Service Exam
- Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate (A.L.I.C.E.) training
- Job readiness and professionalism

Program Requirements:
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma/GED
Tri-C’s Adult Diploma Program helps you obtain a high school diploma AND a Dispatcher certificate AT NO COST.

Program Cost:
$1,700.00 Includes textbook, class materials, polo shirt, & test fee
The Tri-C Foundation helps eligible Dispatch Communications students by covering a portion of the tuition with a Workforce Training Scholarship.

Class Dress Code:
- White polo shirt (short or long sleeves) until academy polo is provided in class
- Navy or black pants (no leggings or yoga pants)
- Dark-colored shoes and socks
- Academy jackets are optional and may be purchased separately (approx. $40)
