Course Description

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADMISSION IF YOU WANT THE SCHOLARSHIP:

  1. Complete the scholarship application 
  2. Obtain a student number by applying to Tri-C
    • During the application process, on the first prompt of "Academic Plans" tab, the question states "What brings you to Tri-C?" Click "Workforce Training/Professional Development" (second choice in the drop down).
    • Your application will be processed in up to 7 days if you are a new student. If you are a returning Tri-C student, it will be processed immediately. Please reach out to Kate Lamb (catherine.lamb@tri-c.edu | 216.987.5283) if you need to process in a shorter time (Kate will reach out to enrollment to expeidate)
  3. When you hear from Catherine Lamb that you have been awarded the scholarship, add the class to the cart via this link
    • sign in to process registration and choose "another payment method - scholarship/grant" at checkout. Your enrollment will be routed to the Enrollment Center for processing. 
  4. Enrollment Services will contact you for remaining balance payment.
  5. Process remaining balance.
  6. A welcome email will be sent a week before the class start date with more course details.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

The Live Broadcast Truck Intensive Training will give students entry-level knowledge and hands-on technical training in the broadcast production agency. Industry professionals using industry-standard equipment and techniques will instruct students. Students will have the opportunity to network with professionals who regularly staff freelance positions in the broadcast industry.

Learner Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, the student should be able to perform the following tasks and supporting objectives:

  1. Discuss the pre-production process for recording a live event
  2. Understand the different positions in live broadcast and their duties
  3. Understand industry etiquette and safety procedures
  4. Understand the roles and skills that need to be developed in order to advance a live broadcasting career
  5. Exposure to industry professionals
  6. Understand and perform the duties of camera operator.

Notes

Working cameras for broadcast is physically demanding. Students must be capable of standing for long amounts of time, lifting gear of 30 pounds.
