ZREC0195 - Intermediate Upcycling Sewing: Garment Reconstruction and Design
Course Description
Course Fee: $349.00
This course is a 6-week session, with classes held every Wednesday evening. For more details, please click the box under the Enroll Now section.
This intermediate-level sewing course is designed for students with prior sewing experience who are ready to expand their skills through creative upcycling and garment reconstruction. This is not a beginner class.
Over six weeks, students will learn how to deconstruct and redesign existing garments — such as denim, woven shirts and blazers — into fashion-forward pieces using professional construction techniques. The course emphasizes sustainable fashion practices, design thinking and creative problem-solving. Students will complete multiple upcycled projects and a final showcase-ready garment.
Sewing machines and basic supplies are provided. Students may bring their own machines if preferred (new machines welcome — setup assistance will be provided). Supplemental fabrics, denim, trims, buttons and embellishments are included. Students must bring their own foundation garments for upcycling. The supply list will be sent to students three weeks prior to the first class.
Additional Information:
You will receive a student welcome email up to three business days before the course start date. This email will include important course details such as the location, time, address logistics, and any additional information the instructor may wish to share.
