Course Description

The Vocal Arts Mastery program, part of the Tri-C Creative Arts Academy in partnership with the Cleveland Public Library, will provide a free after-school vocal training experience for students in grades 3-12 that includes solo and ensemble vocal skills, music theory, sight-singing and elementary keyboard training. Students will gain foundational training and prepare a wide range of choral repertoire, culminating in a performance at the end of each session and opportunities to perform at local events throughout the session.

Leading the program is renowned music educator and choral director William Henry Caldwell, current resident conductor for the Martin Luther King Celebration Chorus for the Cleveland Orchestra and the Classical Roots Community Chorus for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Caldwell brings years of vocal experience as the retired director of the Central State University Chorus in Wilberforce, Ohio, and is known for his active career as a lyric baritone. A team of vocal instructors will assist Caldwell with the program.
