Course Description

Accounting professionals are scarce, but those with corporate accounting experience are even rarer. This course will build on the knowledge gained in the Accounting Fundamentals course to provide students with a solid understanding of corporate accounting practices. Learn how to analyze transactions and prepare various corporate financial reports. Gain practical experience working with dividends, plant assets, depreciation, accrued revenue and expenses, retained earnings, stockholders' equity and more.

Course Outline

Learn how to journalize and post accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions; account for uncollectible accounts receivable; record plant assets and depreciation transactions; calculate, journalize and post notes payable and notes receivable; calculate, journalize and post accrued income and accrued expenses; journalize and post dividends and prepare partial worksheet; complete worksheet with adjustments; prepare various end-of-fiscal-period financial reports; journalize and post adjusting and closing entries and prepare post-closing trial balance; prepare, journalize and post a payroll; make federal tax deposits; and prepare year-end tax documents.
