Course Description

This course has been developed for current and new facilitators of the OhioMHAS 40-hour Peer Recovery Supporter training, to develop training facilitation skills. The curriculum focuses on facilitator competencies, didactic learning techniques and maintaining an effective learning environment.

  • The differences between presenting and training
  • Using effective communication skills
  • Using techniques to help adults learn effectively
  • Delivering training while maintaining maximum participant engagement
  • Understanding the target audience
  • Understanding unconscious biases
  • Addressing difficult participant behaviors and conflict scenarios
  • Coaching participants and providing feedback
  • Assessing personal readiness as a facilitator and trainer
  • Facilitator/trainer presentation and evaluation
