Course Description

Explore the art of brewing craft beer. Brew and bottle a batch of craft beer and learn how to set up your own home brewing operation. All supplies included. Learn the science behind brewing, discover different styles of beer and participate in a sensory/tasting panel. Make and enjoy two appetizers on the final day of class.

No previous experience or knowledge necessary. Must be 21 or older to register.

Session I

  • Introduction 
  • Making the “wort”
  • The “boil”
  • Siphoning and pitching the yeast
  • Fermentation

Session II

  • Secondary fermentation
  • Dry hopping and other ways to add flavors
  • Tastings

Session III

  • Bottle conditioning
  • Food pairing

Session IV

  • Setting up your home brewery
  • Make two appetizers using the beer, beer bread and beer cheese spread
