Course Description

This course introduces students to the basic concepts of origin and cause, utilizing classroom lecture and hands-on techniques.

Notes

Required textbooks to be purchased by the student:

1.)  Fire Investigator: Principles and Practice, 6th Edition

2.) NFPA 921: Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations, 2021

3.)  NFPA 1033: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, 2022

Also required:

Laptop computer with high speed internet.

Prerequisites 

Minimum 3 years as a member of a fire department, police department or must be a Chief, Line Officer or member of an investigative team assigned to conduct origin and cause investigations. Student must complete the CFITrainer.net module: The Practical Application of the Relationship between NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921.

Student must bring a copy of printed “CFITrainer” module certificate.
