Course Description

Course Outline

Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) – Standards, Guidelines and more:

Learner Outcomes

Basic Life Support CPR certification for health care providers.

Clinical: 16 hours may be held on weekdays or weekends (times may vary). Clinical days vary by class.

Eligible to take the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Competency Exam for certification.

Onsite State Testing scheduled by STNA Preceptor. The 1st attempt is included in the cost.

Notes

Program cost is $1200.00 (includes text materials, CPR, Professionalism, 1st State Test).  

This is a non-credit certificate program and is not covered by financial aid (FAFSA, student loans, etc.).

You will be notified via email of the STNA orientation date prior to the start of classes.

Access to computer/laptop is required for coursework and/or background check requirements.

 

Important Clinical Note
Clinical facilities will not allow STNA students to participate in clinical experiences within the facility without appropriate documentation of required immunizations, including the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, all clinical sites for the College's STNA program require that participants be fully vaccinated from COVID-19. Inability to complete required clinical hours may result in a failing grade and dismissal from the program.
 

Prerequisites:

High School Diploma/GED preferred or in progress. Current high school students welcomed!

Recommended: Math 6th grade level and Reading 8th grade level.

There are no course prerequisites for the program.

Successfully pass fingerprint and background check – Required prior to clinicals (subject to change)

Completion of immunization requirements: 2 Step TB testing and Influenza (seasonal only) prior to clinicals.

Section Notes
The STNA program will be in-person classes. The lectures are in-person on campus. You will need your student ID number in order to access Blackboard for assigned videos and assignments. An audio version of the lectures will also be available to you on Blackboard. In order to view the lectures and videos, a computer/laptop and internet access will be needed. Tri-C has a Blackboard app for mobile phones that can also be used (adequate data on your phone plan will be needed). Classes are held at the Corporate College West in Westlake, 25425 Center Ridge Rd. Westlake, 44145. Health requirements and background checks are needed for clinicals that will be held in nursing facilities. Students are required to be FULLY  vaccinated (Covid) before you are able to attend clinicals. Fully vaccinated means it has been two weeks after your second Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 2 weeks after the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Clinicals are required to complete the program. During the flu season (Oct.-March), the flu shot is required for clinicals. Clinicals for the accelerated classes are on the weekend and clinicals for the traditional classes are on weekdays. The uniform requirements are solid navy-blue nursing scrubs and white or black clinical shoes (tennis shoes are fine), which the student must purchase.
