Course Description

PLAY! + Spirit of the Groove is designed for students who are interested in the standard Saturday PLAY! program as well as the audition-based Spirit of the Groove small group ensembles. Once registered, you will be notified by our team about audition and interview information for Spirit of the Groove. See PLAY! for full program description.

Spirit of the Groove is an intense audition-based mentorship program for students who live and breathe music. Select Spirit of the Groove members have opportunities to perform within the community and open for national touring artists.

The Spirit of the Groove program provides guidance on schools to attend, opportunities for local and national networking, insight into the music business, and assistance in creating and submitting audition materials for competitions, camps and colleges.

*Students interested in registering for Spirit of the Groove but not enrolled in the PLAY! + Spirit of the Groove program must have approval from academy instructors. For this approval, please contact the JazzFest Academy at (jazzfestacademy@tri-c.edu). Cost for Spirit of the Groove members not enrolled in the PLAY! PLUS+ is $500.
