Lee Mingwei and Sunrise: 50th Anniversary Exhibitions
Courtenay Finn, Chief Curator

Join other cultural adventurers as we explore MOCA's 50th anniversary exhibitions. Lee Mingwei presents interactive works of generosity and beauty by this internationally acclaimed artist, who had his first major museum exhibition at MOCA more than 20 years ago. Experience distinct and compelling projects, all designed to enchant, inspire and cultivate giving, reciprocity and connection. Sunrise is an exhibition that honors MOCA founders Marjorie Talalay, Nina Sundell and Aggie Gund. Each founder’s daughters have selected artworks that serve as portraits of their mothers, including the logo for The New Gallery (MOCA’s original name) by Roy Lichtenstein. Combined with personal anecdotes about these women and the early days of The New Gallery, Sunrise reveals our vanguard roots and the artists and individuals who created this special place.

Courtenay Finn, MOCA's new chief curator, previously served as senior curator at the Aspen Art Museum. Among the shows she curated there were solo exhibitions for artists such as Mickalene Thomas, Yto Barrada and Haris Epaminonda. Prior to that, Finn served as curator for Art in General in NYC. She received her undergraduate degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art.
