Course Description

This course prepares the student to take the CVOICE v8.0 exam, which is one of the qualifying exams for Cisco Certified Network Professional Voice (CCNP Voice). The student will learn about voice gateways, characteristics of VoIP, implementation of dial plans and IP phones, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, and information about gatekeepers and Cisco Unified Border Element. Also the following will be part of the class: Addressing design, planning, and deployment practices, hands-on experience in configuring and implementing VoIP networks, and how to configure Quality of Service (QoS) to support real-time traffic.

Course Outline

Compare Call Control Models; Improve and Maintain Voice Quality; Able to design for Optimal Voice Quality; Implement CAC; Compare switched telephone network (PSTN) voice networks and IP Telephony solutions; Configure the call flows for (POTS), VoIP, and default dial peers; Understand processes and standards for voice digitization, compression, digital signaling, and Fax transport as they relate to VoIP networks; Understand Voice Over IP environments (SIP, H.323, MGCP); Configure integrated voice/data network design and optimization; Configure and troubleshoot Voice/data network; Understand voice quality issues and the QoS solutions used to solve them
