Course Description

This course is designed to advance the knowledge and skills of the post-production process for narrative film. Trainees will build upon their knowledge learned from Visual Post-Production for Film I to complete a project. Practical exercises will include the conforming process, color grading, simple visual effects, credits creation, adding the final audio mix and exporting the completed project for several playback systems. Trainees will leave this class with the skills needed to perform the role of assistant editor in the studio for movie and commercial projects. 

Learner Outcomes

Students will be able to effectively perform post-production assistant editor duties in the editorial department for a multimedia or movie post-production studio. They will develop creative skills to add additional insight and value to the narrative process, and analyze material and give creative solutions to technical and narrative problems. In addition, they will have a working knowledge of the workflow in the post process to take raw camera files all the way through final delivery in a studio workflow. All trainees will be able to: 

1.    Prep media and conform for color grading, sound design and effects
2.    Understand and demonstrate color grading
3.    Understand and demonstrate simple visual special effects
4.    Understand and demonstrate credit creation and simple motion graphics
5.    Understand and demonstrate the playback of the final audio mix

Notes

Pre-Requisite: Students must be proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro in order to enroll in this course. 

Required Technology: Students must provide their own external hard drive for the course (storage capacity: 2 TB).
