Course Description

This 12-hour course introduces participants to proven project management tools and principles that create standards, govern workflow and lead to greater productivity. Participants will explore the fundamentals of project management — including key concepts, terminology and project life cycles — and review the five project processes: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. They will also receive an introduction to PMI certification.

Learner Outcomes

Explain project management terms, techniques and definitions, Describe the primary principles of project management and its importance to organizational success, Understand what project management means and what makes a project succeed, Explain the differences between projects, programs and portfolios, as well as the triple constraint of project management (the "Iron Triangle"), Describe the five stages of managing a project (initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close).
