This course is a one-time session, offered one day out of the week. For more details, please click the boxes under the Enroll Now section.

Course Description: Applying the understanding of the camera settings and functions from Camera Basics 1 to capture high-quality images. Focusing on the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO, you will no longer need to set your camera to auto to create beautiful images. Learning to understand light, composition and techniques in shooting a variety of subjects will make you a better photographer. Introduction to composition styles, such as the rule of thirds, shallow depth of field and framing your subject, will help you in the creative process. Be sure to bring your camera and lenses for some practice shots during class with hands-on assistance from the instructor.

Camera Recommendations:
The instructor recommends using either a DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) camera or a mirrorless camera for this course. Reputable brands such as Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, and Olympus all offer excellent options. While both types of cameras are suitable, DSLRs are generally more budget-friendly for beginners.

Registration Information:
To register for class, you must have an active Tri-C student number.

  • If you are new to Tri-C, or if you haven’t taken a class in the past year, you’ll need to complete the online application at: www.tri-c.edu/ncregistration. Student numbers become inactive after one year of no enrollment. Completing the online application will either issue you a new student number (if you are new) or reactivate your existing number (if you are returning).
  • Applications can take up to 10 business days to process. Once complete, your student number will be emailed to you, and you’ll be able to register and pay for class.

Additional Information:
You will receive a welcome email up to three business days before the course start date. This email will include important course details such as the location, time, address logistics, and any additional information the instructor may wish to share.
